When people buy from The Foundry Works they are buying from a mum with a crazy dream. I’m a huge believer in people buying from people, with the knowledge that they are buying from a family-run company they can relate to.
We work tirelessly to provide the best possible shopping experience both online and in store and to keep fresh brands coming through in order to provide everything you’d expect from a larger company.
The big companies only stock the most popular brands, they won’t entertain the independent dyers and businesses. The yarn community has had a huge shift from shopping with the big guys to a preference for more local yarn stores and smaller businesses, and we want to accommodate that whilst providing the best possible service.
We stock a huge range of yarn and accessories. Come and visit us to see it all, and please don’t forget to follow us on social media to keep up with the ever evolving range of yarns and accessories that we stock.
After a trip to a local yarn event, I set myself a simple challenge: learn how to knit socks. The next few years saw me knitting loads of socks!
It was when I was learning to knit socks that I discovered hand dyed yarn and loved it. Soon after, I decided to have a go at dyeing my own yarn.
Working out of my DIY converted garage, I worked every hour I could between childcare to create my own hand dyed yarns.
I soon started attending yarn shows and dying yarn officially became my job, and my passion.
I’m not sure what happened, but one day we simply decided to go for it! A yarn shop!
My local area particularly, lacks any bricks and mortar yarn shops and finding a suitable premises wasn’t easy. Stuff it, in for a penny, in for a pound… I signed the lease to an industrial unit!
I wanted to support small independent businesses. The dyers, the designers, the kit makers, and everyone in between and thus The Foundry Works LTD was born!
Here we are, going strong! creating a vibrant, colourful, safe and inclusive environment for everyone to come along, see, touch and feel all the beautiful ranges that we stock!
